The fine version of a rope band — a close, tight twist with a small repeat, so it reads as texture rather than as coils. On the hand it looks like a plain band that someone has drawn a spiral line along. It is the one in this collection most often bought two or three at a time.

The band

The tightness of the twist is what distinguishes a good rope band from a cheap one: wound loosely, the coils separate and the ring looks like wire; wound close, they lock and the band reads as solid. Each coil is polished so the spiral of light runs continuously round the finger. At 2.2mm it stacks flat against plain bands and against diamond bands equally well, which is why it works as a filler in a stack rather than competing with what is next to it.

About the gold

Solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold, or platinum, in the color you choose — never plated, never filled. Higher karats are richer in color and softer; 14K is the usual choice for a band worn every day, 18K for one that is worn a little more carefully. Every band is stamped with its karat on the inside.

Common questions

Will fine rope wear thin?
Slowly, at the crests, the way any textured band does — we are talking decades of daily wear, not years. It is solid gold throughout, so there is nothing to wear through to.

Is it comfortable stacked?
Yes, and it is one of the few textured bands that is. The coils are rounded and the twist is fine enough that the surface feels almost smooth against a neighboring ring rather than gripping it.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
Very nearly. This is a finished band made to a fixed specification, not a setting built around a stone you choose, so the ring in these photographs and the ring you receive are the same design at the same weight. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Is this solid gold or plated?
Solid, all the way through, in the karat you select. Nothing here is plated or filled, and the inside of the band carries the karat stamp. A solid band can be polished and resized for as long as you own it, which is the whole argument for buying one rather than a plated ring.
