The simplest ring we make. A circle of round gold wire, 1.8mm through, joined so cleanly you cannot find the seam, polished all over. No front, no back, no stones, nothing to orient. It goes on and you stop thinking about it.

The band

There is nowhere to hide on a ring like this, which is why it is a fair test of a workshop. The wire has to be exactly circular in section all the way round — drawn, not rolled — and the join has to be invisible under a loupe after polishing, not just to the eye. A fully round section also means there is no edge anywhere, so the ring sits against a neighboring band or against the next finger without a line.

About the gold

Solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold, or platinum, in the color you choose — never plated, never filled. Higher karats are richer in color and softer; 14K is the usual choice for a band worn every day, 18K for one that is worn a little more carefully. Every band is stamped with its karat on the inside.

Common questions

Is round wire more comfortable than a flat band?
For most people, yes, and noticeably so at this fine a gauge — there is no edge to press into the finger in either direction. It is the section we recommend to anyone who has worn a flat band and found it sat oddly.

Can I stack several?
It is one of the best bands for stacking, because round sections nest against each other without catching. Three of these in mixed karats is a common order.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
Very nearly. This is a finished band made to a fixed specification, not a setting built around a stone you choose, so the ring in these photographs and the ring you receive are the same design at the same weight. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Is this solid gold or plated?
Solid, all the way through, in the karat you select. Nothing here is plated or filled, and the inside of the band carries the karat stamp. A solid band can be polished and resized for as long as you own it, which is the whole argument for buying one rather than a plated ring.
