The setting

The shank is a broad rounded ribbon, thick and smooth, that rises on one side, carries the stone, and sweeps down and past itself on the other — one continuous line with no visible join. The radiant is claw-set at an angle so its long axis follows the sweep rather than the finger. With a surface this large and this plain, everything depends on the polish: the ribbon reads as one unbroken highlight, and any ripple in the metal would break it.

Common questions

Why set the stone at an angle?
Because the band is on an angle. A rectangular stone set square against a diagonal ribbon fights it; set with the sweep, the two read as one gesture.

Is a radiant a good choice for a large stone?
Very. It is a brilliant cut in a rectangular outline, so it holds its fire at size and is far more forgiving on clarity than an emerald cut of the same weight.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.
