The center is a 1.5 ct Portuguese-cut round lab-grown diamond, a cut with far more facets than a standard brilliant, so the face-up pattern looks like a rosette and the sparkle is finer and busier. It sits in a coronet of about sixteen claw tips, which is a lot of metal for one stone and makes the head look like a small crown.

The setting

The claws are arranged in eight pairs, so every point of contact is doubled; if one tip bends, its neighbor still holds. From the side the basket shows vertical ribbed wires that give the head a fluted look without closing off light. The band is fine, about 1.4–1.5 mm, with tiny rounds set flush at intervals and short engraved bars between them, roughly 6–10 stations across the shoulders. Flush-set stones sit level with the metal, which suits a band this thin because nothing projects to catch.

The Portuguese cut is an unusual faceting style that is not stocked in the Ring Builder. This ring is listed with its 1.5 ct lab-grown diamond already matched to the crown head, which is built around that stone's diameter and depth.

How do I look after a sixteen-claw head?
More claws means more tips that can catch on knitwear or get bent. Run a fingertip around the head now and then; any claw that feels raised should be pushed back by a jeweler. A yearly check covers most wear, and the fine station band is best resized by no more than a size or two so the station spacing is kept.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The design, the cut and the carat weight, yes. Individual stones vary slightly, and colored stones in particular read differently under daylight and warm indoor light. We photograph your finished ring and send you those images before it ships.
