One continuous piece of gold that starts as a band, widens into a collar around the stone and falls away again. There is no head, no claws and no join you can find with a fingernail.

The setting

The pear is held in a half-bezel collar, tilted so the point runs toward the shoulder rather than straight up the finger. The shank is heavy and sculpted, swelling where it meets the stone and tapering to a rounded back. That mass is what lets the collar be this thin and still hold securely. The result sits very low and has no exposed prongs at all, which makes it one of the few settings here that genuinely survives daily rough wear.

Common questions

Is a half-bezel safer than claws?
For a pear, considerably. The collar covers the girdle where claws would grip, and the point sits inside gold rather than under a prong tip. Pear points are the most commonly chipped part of any fancy shape.

Does the tilt make it look crooked?
No - it reads as deliberate because the shank follows the same angle. A pear set dead straight on a curved shank is what looks wrong.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher.
