Three claws and nothing else: a V wrapping the point, and one at each shoulder of the pear. The band is plain and tapers out of sight.

The setting

A pear sits point-up in a three-claw head. The V-claw at the tip is not decoration — it is the standard protection for the thinnest part of a pear, and without it a knocked point is the most common damage this cut sees. The two shoulder claws sit at the widest part of the stone, where they are least visible from above. The band is a plain tapered polished gold. Common questions

Why three claws and not five or six?
Three is the minimum a pear needs and it leaves the most stone visible. The V at the point does the work that two extra claws would otherwise do.

Which way should the point face?
Up toward the knuckle is traditional and makes the finger look longer. Down toward the wrist is less common and sits more comfortably under a wedding band. We set it either way.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
