The band is not a band — it is a run of alternating marquise and round diamonds, bezel and claw-set in turn, leading up to the stone from both directions.

The setting

A heart sits point-up with a single round accent tucked beside it, on a shank built from alternating marquise and round stones rather than from a solid piece of metal. Each accent is set in its own collar so the band reads as a chain of shapes with gold showing between them — an older way of building a shank than modern pave, and a good deal more work. Accents total roughly 0.35ct. The effect is a ring that sparkles all the way round the finger rather than only at the top.

Common questions

Can a shank like this be resized?
Within about one size, and it has to be done at the back where the accents stop. Tell us your size at checkout and we will make it correctly rather than resize it later.

Is it fragile?
Less than it looks. Each accent sits in its own collar, which carries load in a way that bead-set pave does not. It is still a ring to take off before the gym.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
