The stone sits inside a thick gold outline of its own shape — a halo made of metal instead of melee — with the band looping away behind it.

The setting

A pear lies east-west inside a heavy rub-over frame that follows its outline and stands well proud of the girdle, widening the whole head considerably. Behind it the shank loops in a flattened ribbon that passes itself. A gold frame does what a diamond halo does — it makes the setting read large from across a room — but it costs a fraction of the melee, needs no cleaning between stones, and will still look sharp in twenty years. There are no small stones on this ring at all.

Common questions

Does a gold frame make the stone look bigger?
It makes the head look bigger, which is the same thing at conversational distance. A diamond halo does it with more sparkle; a gold one does it with more presence.

Is this heavy to wear?
It is the heaviest head in the collection, but the weight sits on top of the finger rather than around it, so it feels substantial rather than tight.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.
