The setting

The shank crosses under the stone and the pear is claw-set point-up on the upper arm, tilted slightly with the cross. The lower arm runs on and finishes in a flattened end carrying a single rub-over round of about 0.10ct, set close against the finger where it is barely visible from above. That is the trick — one accent, placed where you only find it from the side, so the ring reads as a pure solitaire face-on and as a two-stone in profile. The band is fine throughout, which is what lets a large pear look as large as it is.

Common questions

Does a fine band make the diamond look bigger?
Measurably. The thinner the metal beside the stone, the larger the stone reads — it is the cheapest way to add apparent size to any center diamond.

Is a fine band strong enough for a 3ct stone?
At the sizes we use here, yes, in 14K and above. In 10K we would recommend staying under about 2.5ct on this setting.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher.
