The setting

The pear stands point-up inside a bezel that follows its outline including the tip — the safest way to set a pear, since the point is enclosed rather than gripped. Against the left shoulder a cluster of round accents in two or three sizes is bead-set into the band, tapering away after a centimeter. The right shoulder is bare polished gold. Accent weight is about 0.15ct. The imbalance is the design: worn, the ring has a side that catches light and a side that does not, and it never looks the same in two photographs.

Common questions

Is a bezel safer than claws for a pear?
Considerably. The point is the part that chips, and in a bezel it is surrounded by metal rather than pinched under a prong tip.

Can the cluster be mirrored on both sides?
We can make it symmetrical if you prefer, but it becomes a different ring. The asymmetry is what this design is.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.
