Peacock green is a dark blue-green with gray in it, and this 2 ct cushion lab-grown peacock green diamond throws strong fire across that dark body color. Rose gold sits well against it: the warm metal separates from the cool stone instead of blending in.

The setting

Four pairs of double claws hold the corners, which is where a cushion takes knocks. Under the stone a hidden halo of about 12–16 small white rounds circles the collar, invisible from above and a bright line when the hand turns. The cathedral shoulders are pierced with scroll-shaped openings, so the head looks lighter from the side than a solid cathedral would. The shank is plain rose gold, about 1.8–2.0 mm, tapering slightly toward the back.

Common questions

Why is this cushion not in the diamond selector?
Peacock green is a colored lab-grown diamond sourced individually for this setting, and the Ring Builder offers white centers only. The ring is therefore listed with its 2 ct cushion already set in the double-claw head.

Will the hidden halo show from the front?
No. The small stones sit on the collar below the cushion, so face-up you see only the green stone and its claws. From the side, and when the hand moves, the halo shows as a thin white line under the color.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The design, the cut and the carat weight, yes. Individual stones vary slightly, and colored stones in particular read differently under daylight and warm indoor light. We photograph your finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Where does the color come from?
Lab-grown colored diamonds take their color either from trace elements during growth or from a treatment after growth, and the certificate states which. Either way the color is stable in normal wear and cleaning; avoid holding the ring in a jeweler's torch flame during any repair, which is the one thing that can alter treated color.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
