An east-west oval is the quiet alternative to a solitaire. It sits low, spans the finger rather than the length of it, and does not announce itself from the doorway — which is exactly why people who have looked at a hundred vertical ovals end up here.

The ring

The 1ct oval lies across the finger in a half-bezel, four claws at the shoulders, the bypass shank curving behind the stone and finishing under the opposite side. Setting an oval sideways hides the bowtie better than a vertical setting does, because the dark band across the center falls along the short axis where it is least visible. The profile is low enough to wear under a glove.

The band

0.70ct of round lab-grown diamonds in shared-prong pave, on a band cut to the bypass curve. It closes the gap under the setting so the two rings read as one continuous line rather than a ring with something stacked beneath it.

Common questions

Is an east-west oval harder to find a wedding band for?
Generally yes, which is why this listing includes the matching band. A straight band will not sit flush against a bypass setting — it needs a contour cut to the same curve.

Does setting the oval sideways hide the bowtie?
It helps. The bowtie runs across the short axis of an oval, so turning the stone sideways puts it where the eye is less likely to settle on it.

How does a 1ct oval compare to a 1ct round face-up?
The oval looks larger — roughly 7.7 x 5.7mm against about 6.4mm for a round — because it spreads its weight over a longer surface.

Can I wear the band on its own?
Yes. On its own it reads as a soft chevron with a diamond line along one edge. It will not sit flat, by design.
