Same bezel treatment, turned ninety degrees. Here the ovals stand up along the finger instead of lying across it, which makes the band read narrow and tall rather than wide — and puts the widest part of each stone against the widest part of its neighbor.

The band

An oval set north-south looks longer and slimmer than the same stone set east-west; it is the one reliable optical trick in this trade. Seven of them in a row turn the band into a column of vertical shapes, and because the bezels touch at their bellies rather than their ends, the outline of the set section undulates. The flat shank underneath keeps the whole thing from looking busy. 1.40 carats across seven.

Common questions

Which orientation looks bigger, upright or across?
Upright makes each stone look longer and the band look narrower. Across makes the band look wider and more substantial. Same diamonds, genuinely different rings — it is worth looking at both pages before deciding.

Will the upright bezels catch on things?
No more than the east-west version. A bezel has no claws and no edges standing proud; whichever way the stone is turned, the outer surface is a smooth burnished wall.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
Very nearly. This is a finished band made to a fixed specification, not a setting built around a stone you choose, so the ring in these photographs and the ring you receive are the same design at the same weight. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Are the diamonds certified?
As a set, yes. Calibrated stones of this size are not individually certified — nobody grades a small calibrated stone on its own paper — so we supply a certificate covering the total carat weight and the matched color and clarity range for the whole band.
