Two stones, both lying across the finger rather than along it, sitting on the part of the band where the metal swells. Everything else is bare. It is the kind of ring that does not read as a wedding band at ten feet and absolutely does at arm's length.

The band

Setting an oval east-west is a shape decision, not a setting one — lying across the finger the stone reads wider and shorter, and two of them side by side make a horizontal line that the eye follows across the hand rather than down the finger. The band swells beneath them to carry the seats and tapers behind so the ring does not feel heavy at the back. 0.32 carats in two stones.

Common questions

Are the two ovals the same size?
No, and that is intentional. The inboard stone is noticeably larger; the smaller one beside it keeps the pair from reading as a symmetrical two-stone, which tends to look unfinished. The graduation is what makes it look composed.

Will east-west stones catch more than north-south ones?
Slightly less, actually. An oval lying across the finger presents its long flank to the world rather than its point, and the claws sit at the ends where they are shielded by the swell of the band.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
