Leaves curl up from the band and around the base of the oval, so the stone sits in foliage rather than on a plain head, with pave running down the vine behind them.

The setting

An oval is claw-set lengthwise inside a collar of sculpted gold leaves that rise from the shoulders and wrap the lower girdle. Behind them the shank carries bead-set round accents, about 0.20ct, threaded along the vine between further leaves. Framing the stone in metalwork rather than in a halo of melee gives size and detail without adding sparkle — the leaves widen the setting visually while keeping the diamond count low. It is the most decorative of the three vine settings and the only one where the foliage reaches the center stone.

Common questions

Do the leaves make the stone look bigger?
They widen the whole setting, which reads as size from a distance in the way a halo does — but in gold rather than in small stones, so it costs less and needs less cleaning.

Is it hard to keep clean?
Easier than a halo. There are fewer stones and the recesses between leaves are open rather than enclosed, so a soft brush reaches everything.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.
