Each small diamond on the band sits in its own ring of gold, set side by side like coins laid in a row. No claws, no beads, no pave.

The setting

An oval is claw-set lengthwise above a shank built from round accents totalling about 0.40ct, each one rub-over set — sunk in its own collar of gold with the metal pushed over the edge of the stone all the way round. The collars touch, so the band reads as a chain of small gold circles with light in the middle of each. It is a slower setting than pave and it uses more metal, but nothing on it can catch, and the gold outlines make each stone look larger than the same diamond bead-set.

Common questions

Why bezels instead of pave on the band?
Bezels hold better, never snag on fabric, and give the band a graphic, antique look. Pave is brighter; bezels are tougher and more unusual.

Do the bezels make the small stones look bigger?
Yes — the gold collar reads as part of the stone from a short distance, which is exactly why rub-over setting has survived for two hundred years.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Is the center stone certified?
