The band does not meet. One end lifts to hold the oval; the other ends in a small oval diamond sunk flush into the gold.

The setting

A round-wire shank runs up to the center stone on one side and finishes, on the other, in a flattened terminal with a small oval of about 0.15ct rub-over set into it and lying east-west. The two ends pass on different levels, so from the front the ring reads as a single line that starts in a diamond and ends in one. The terminal is the interesting part to make: it is forged flat from the round wire rather than soldered on, which is why the transition is seamless.

Common questions

Is the small stone secure in the end of the band?
Yes — it is rub-over set, with gold pushed over its whole edge, and it sits below the surface of the terminal. It is the most protected stone on the ring.

Will the open shank change shape?
Not in wear. It is forged, not cast, so the metal is work-hardened and springy. Don't squeeze it to adjust the fit, though — bring it to us.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
