A gold collar takes the oval around its two ends, leaving the long sides open, and a small pear points inward from each shoulder.

The setting

The oval sits in a half-bezel — gold wrapping the top and bottom of the girdle, both flanks bare — with a pear accent claw-set at each shoulder, tips angled toward the center stone. About 0.25ct of accents in total. The half-bezel keeps the profile low and removes the prong tips that catch on clothing, while leaving enough of the girdle exposed that the stone does not look shrunken the way a full bezel can make it. Pear accents rather than round give the shoulders a direction, pulling the eye inward.

Common questions

Does a half-bezel make the stone look smaller?
Less than a full bezel. Gold covers only the two ends, so the width of the oval — which is what the eye measures — is fully visible.

Is it good for someone hard on their hands?
Better than claws. There are no prong tips standing above the crown at the sides, which is where most snagging happens.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.
