Look at the outline and you see an eye, or an almond - two pointed ends and a full curve between them. That shape is not decoration added to the ring; it is the shank itself. The band splits into two arms, each one sweeps around the bezel and they meet and taper to a point on either side, so the oval ends up sitting inside a gold frame that the ring made out of its own metal.

The setting

The bezel is complete and quite plain, with a low burnished wall, because the drama is in the frame rather than the setting. The two arms are flattened where they curve and come to a genuine point where they join, which is what gives the ring its navette silhouette rather than a soft halo outline. Between the arms and the bezel there is a visible gap on both sides - open, not filled - and light travels through it, so the stone is lit from the sides as well as the top.

Common questions

Does the gap between the frame and the bezel collect dirt?
Less than a claw setting does, because it is an open channel with two exits rather than a pocket. Warm water, a drop of dish soap and a soft brush pushed through the gap clears it in under a minute.

Can the frame be made in a different metal to the bezel?
Yes. A white gold or platinum bezel inside yellow arms is a combination we make regularly - it separates the two elements visually and makes the frame read even more clearly. Ask us for a two-tone quote before ordering.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Is the center stone certified?
