The difference between this and our standard marquise Rapture is 3mm of metal at each end — and it changes the whole ring. V-claws wrap each point in a flat collar instead of a round bead, which squares off the silhouette and makes a 2 carat marquise look architectural rather than romantic.

The ring

The 2ct marquise lies east-west across the finger, roughly 15mm point to point. Each tip sits inside a V-shaped claw — the setting style jewellers use specifically for marquise and pear tips, because it distributes pressure along both edges of the point instead of pressing on it from above. The bypass shank runs behind the stone in the usual Rapture sweep, keeping the profile low despite the carat weight.

The band

0.65ct of round lab-grown diamonds in a minimal pave line on a band cut to the setting's contour. Kept deliberately fine: with a 2ct marquise and two V-claws already doing structural work up top, a heavier band would make the pair look crowded.

About our lab-grown diamonds

Every stone we set is a lab-grown diamond — the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and optical behaviour as a mined diamond, grown rather than extracted. Centre stones of 1 carat and above ship with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, colour and clarity. Melee and pave stones are matched to the same colour and clarity range but are not individually certified.

Common questions

What is a V-claw and why use one on a marquise?
A V-claw is a prong shaped like a V that sits over the point of a stone, gripping both edges. On marquise and pear cuts it protects the thinnest, most chip-prone part of the diamond far better than a standard round prong.

How does this differ from CDTBS003, the other marquise Rapture set?
Carat weight and prong style. This is 2ct with V-claws at both points; CDTBS003 is 1.5ct with standard round claws. The V-claws give a squarer, more graphic outline.

Is a 2ct marquise too large for daily wear?
It is long — about 15mm across — but the east-west bypass keeps it low to the finger, which matters more for daily wear than carat weight does. If you work with your hands, the low profile is the point.

Does the V-claw hide part of the diamond?
A small amount at each tip, yes. That is the trade: slightly less visible stone in exchange for materially better protection at the points.

Is the 2ct center certified?
Yes, IGI certified. We provide certification on all center stones of 1 carat and above.
