The setting

The marquise is claw-set lengthwise with V-claws over both points. At each shoulder sits a trillion — a triangular brilliant — set with one point outward, roughly 0.25ct each. Because the marquise is pointed at top and bottom and the trillions are pointed left and right, the outline of the setting comes to four points, and on the hand it reads as a star rather than as three separate stones. The band is plain polished gold and tapers away quickly so nothing competes with that shape. Photographed at 2.80ct and 3.50ct.

Common questions

What is a trillion cut?
A triangular brilliant with either straight or slightly curved sides. It has a wide, shallow footprint, so a trillion looks much bigger than its weight suggests — which is exactly what you want from a side stone.

Does this suit a smaller center stone?
It works from about 2ct up. Below that the trillions start to crowd the marquise and the star shape closes in.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.
