The setting is shaped like a tulip — pointed petals of gold rising from the band to cradle the stone — with a few tiny diamonds tucked under the crown.

The setting

A marquise sits lengthwise inside a head cut into pointed petals that curve up from the shoulders and grip the stone at the flanks and both points. Under the crown, a short row of small accents of roughly 0.10ct is set into the gallery where it catches light from the side. The petals replace both the claws and the basket, so from above you see the outline of the stone uninterrupted and from the side you see metalwork. The band below is fine, plain and completely undecorated.

Common questions

Do the petals hide part of the stone?
Less than a four-claw head does. They grip at the girdle and taper away immediately, so the table and crown are entirely open.

What is the row of stones under the crown for?
Light. A marquise is shallow and loses brightness at the ends; a lit gallery pushes some of it back up through the stone.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.
