The band itself is marquise-shaped — it swells across the finger and comes to a point at each end — with the stone sunk flush into the middle of it.

The setting

Seen from above, the whole ring is one navette: the shank widens from a slim back into a pointed oval face, and the marquise sits rub-over set inside it with the gold running right up to the girdle and level with the table. The outline of the metal follows the outline of the stone exactly, so from a short distance you cannot tell where one ends and the other begins. Getting those two points to line up is the entire job — a bezel a fraction out of true with the band would be obvious immediately.

Common questions

Does the stone look smaller set this low?
From above, slightly, because the bezel covers the girdle. In exchange the stone and the metal read as a single larger shape, which is why the ring looks bigger on the hand than its carat weight suggests.

How does it compare to your domed marquise signet?
That one is a rounded swell with the stone set into it. This one is cut to a point at both ends so the band and the stone share an outline — a different silhouette entirely.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.
