The setting

The marquise is held lengthwise in a polished gold collar that wraps its lower long edge and grips both points, while the shank rises on the other side set with round accents of roughly 0.35ct and bypasses behind the stone. Only one side of the stone carries metal, so from above the marquise looks as though it is resting on the band rather than sitting in a head. The collar also does the real job on a marquise — the points are the fragile part of the cut, and wrapping them in metal protects them far better than a claw ever will.

Common questions

Are marquise points really that fragile?
The tips are the thinnest part of any cut, and a knock in the wrong place can chip one. A collar covering the point is the standard fix and it is built into this design.

Does a longer marquise look bigger?
Yes — for the same weight a marquise shows more surface from above than almost any other cut, which is why it wears large for its carat.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
