A marquise laid at an angle across the finger on a band that curves past itself. It never looks the same from two directions, which is the whole idea.

The setting

The marquise is caught at an angle between two claws where the two arms of the shank pass each other. Setting it off-axis rather than straight along the finger shortens its apparent length and suits a smaller hand better than a north-south marquise of the same weight. The shank is a smooth unbroken bypass, rounded rather than edged, so it stacks against another band without wearing a line into it. No accent stones anywhere - the shape and the curve carry the ring.

Common questions

Why set a marquise at an angle?
It makes a long stone read shorter and wider on the finger. If you like the marquise cut but find the north-south version too elongated, this is the version to try.

Is the profile high?
Low. The bypass holds the stone between the two arms rather than lifting it on a head, so it sits close to the finger.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.
