Two strands of gold wind around each other all the way to the stone. One is set with diamonds, the other is left plain, so the band reads as a rope of alternating light and metal.

The setting

The heart sits point-down in five claws — one at the point, two at the lobes, two at the sides, leaving the cleft clear so the shape reads properly at a distance. Below it the shank splits into two strands that twist around one another to the back of the ring; one strand carries bead-set round accents totalling about 0.20ct, the other stays polished. Twisting a set strand around a plain one is harder than pave-ing a flat band, because the stones have to follow a curve that changes angle continuously.

Common questions

Why is only one strand set with diamonds?
Because two set strands read as a single wide pave band and the twist disappears. Alternating set and plain is what makes the rope visible from across a room.

Can it be resized?
Within about a size and a half. The twist has to be re-formed at the back rather than simply cut and closed, so tell us your size at checkout if you can.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
