The band rises in two clean arches to meet the stone, and the heart sits in three claws with the cleft left completely open.

The setting

A heart is claw-set point-down — one V-claw over the point, one at each lobe — on a shank whose shoulders sweep up into a cathedral arch before they reach the head. The arch does two things: it lifts the stone slightly without raising the whole band, and it puts a visible curve into the profile of a ring that is otherwise entirely plain. The cleft between the lobes is deliberately left clear of metal, because covering it is what makes most heart rings read as an unidentifiable blob from a few feet away.

Common questions

What makes a heart cut look right?
Symmetry and a sharp, centered cleft. A heart with uneven lobes looks wrong at any distance, and no clarity grade compensates for it.

What is a cathedral shoulder?
The shank rises in an arch to meet the setting rather than running straight into it. It lifts the stone and gives the side view a shape.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher.
