A 3 ct round lab-grown green diamond, deep enough to lean toward emerald-teal, on a band of rose gold twisted like rope. Warm metal against a cool green is a stronger contrast than white metal would give, and it keeps the ring from looking icy.

The setting

Beneath the six claws a hexagonal collar braces them partway down, so the tall head stays rigid without adding a halo. The culet is left open as a window, with no peekaboo stone, so the underside of the green is visible through the gallery. The cathedral shoulders carry the claws down into a two-strand rope shank of about 1.8–2.0 mm. A tall head shows the stone well from the side but sits higher than a low basket, so it is more exposed to knocks.

The center stone is a lab-grown colored diamond — the same carbon crystal, hardness and optical behavior as a mined diamond, grown rather than extracted, with its color from trace elements or post-growth treatment as stated on its certificate. Accent stones are colorless lab-grown diamonds matched to one another for color and clarity.

Common questions

Why is this green round not in the diamond selector?
Green is a colored lab-grown diamond that we source individually to suit a setting; the Ring Builder carries white centers. This ring is sold with its 3 ct green round already set in the hexagonal-collar head.

Would the green look different in another metal?
Rose gold, as photographed, warms the edges of the stone and sets the green off by contrast. White metal would make the green look cooler and more blue, and yellow gold would push it slightly toward olive. You can choose your metal when ordering.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The design, the cut and the carat weight, yes. Individual stones vary slightly, and colored stones in particular read differently under daylight and warm indoor light. We photograph your finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Where does the color come from?
Lab-grown colored diamonds take their color either from trace elements during growth or from a treatment after growth, and the certificate states which. Either way the color is stable in normal wear and cleaning; avoid holding the ring in a jeweler's torch flame during any repair, which is the one thing that can alter treated color.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
