The center is a 2 carat lab-grown green diamond, an oval in a teal green that can read bluer in daylight. Yellow gold warms it, and the vine band splits into an open cross on each shoulder, so the stone looks held up by branches.

The setting

Four claws, each textured like a leaf, hold the oval and leave its long sides clear. The vine strands are about 1.5 millimeters, twisted and engraved with leaves, and they open into an X before they reach the head, which puts air around the stone. Accents are kept few, just a marquise leaf and a round bud on each side, so the green stays in charge. Fine open strands are lighter than a solid shoulder; the trade-off is that they flex more if the ring is knocked against something hard.

Why is a green oval not in the diamond selector?
Green lab-grown diamonds are grown in small numbers and vary a lot in tone, so this one was chosen to sit with the yellow-gold vine rather than listed in the Ring Builder. The ring is sold with its 2 ct oval.

How do I clean an open crossing vine?
Soak it in warm soapy water and brush gently through the X-shaped openings and around the bud settings, where soap film collects. Rinse and dry with a lint-free cloth; avoid snagging a cloth on the leaf claws.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The design, the cut and the carat weight, yes. Individual stones vary slightly, and colored stones in particular read differently under daylight and warm indoor light. We photograph your finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Where does the color come from?
Lab-grown colored diamonds take their color either from trace elements during growth or from a treatment after growth, and the certificate states which. Either way the color is stable in normal wear and cleaning; avoid holding the ring in a jeweler's torch flame during any repair, which is the one thing that can alter treated color.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
