The pear points down; the shank points down. The two shapes run in the same direction, which is the entire idea — instead of a teardrop sitting on a circle, you get one continuous downward line from the shoulders of the ring to the tip of the stone.

The ring

A 2 carat pear, roughly 10 x 7mm, set point-down with five claws including a V-claw over the tip. The V-shank angles in to meet directly beneath the widest part of the stone, so the metal follows the diamond's own taper. At this weight and orientation the pear visually lengthens the finger more than any other shape we make.

The band

The matching band is a plain polished chevron in the same angle, sitting flush against the point of the V. Nothing on it. With a 2 carat pear above, that restraint is what keeps the set from tipping into heavy.

About our lab-grown diamonds

Every stone we set is a lab-grown diamond — the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and optical behaviour as a mined diamond, grown rather than extracted. Centre stones of 1 carat and above ship with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, colour and clarity. Melee and pave stones are matched to the same colour and clarity range but are not individually certified.

Common questions

Should a pear point up or down?
It is preference. Point-down, as here, elongates the finger and lets the V-shank follow the stone's taper. Point-up puts the tip toward the knuckle, where it is more exposed. We set this one point-down for both reasons.

Is the pear tip protected?
Yes, by a V-claw that grips both edges of the point. On a 2 carat pear this matters — the tip is the thinnest part of the stone and the part most likely to chip against a hard surface.

How large does a 2ct pear look?
Around 10 x 7mm face-up, which reads larger than a 2ct round because the length draws the eye. It covers most of the width of an average finger.

Can I add a pave band later?
Yes. Message us and we will cut a pave chevron to the same angle, matched to your metal and finger size.

Does the set come in white gold?
Yes — 10K, 14K and 18K in yellow, white and rose. White gold is rhodium plated; plan on replating every year or two with daily wear.
