The setting

The emerald cut sits lengthwise in four claws on a narrow band carrying about 0.08ct of spaced round accents. Step cuts do not scintillate; they flash in broad planes as the hand turns, which is a slower and, to some people, more grown-up effect. That openness is also the demand: an emerald cut hides nothing, so clarity and color both show. The claws are set at the cropped corners, which is where an emerald cut is strongest.

Common questions

What clarity do I need for an emerald cut?
VS1 or better, and we would not recommend going below VS2 at any size. The open table acts like a window into the stone.

Does an emerald cut look smaller than a round?
Face-up, usually larger for the same carat weight - the shape spreads rather than carrying depth. It is one of the best value shapes per visible millimeter.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
