The stone sits inside a fluted rectangular plate with scalloped corners, and a small cluster of diamonds sits at the top, the bottom and each side.

The setting

An emerald cut is set lengthwise inside a carved gold frame — the surface fluted with fine parallel lines, the corners cut back into scallops — with three-stone clusters of round accents, about 0.35ct in total, bead-set at the head, the foot and both flanks. The whole plaque is the width of the finger and stands on a fine plain band. This is 1920s vocabulary: the fluting, the stepped corners and the symmetry of the accent clusters are all straight out of the Deco period, and the engraving has to be cut after casting for the lines to stay crisp.

Common questions

Is the frame engraved or cast?
Cast and then hand-finished. The flutes are re-cut and the scalloped corners re-defined with a graver, which is what keeps the edges sharp rather than soft.

Will it fit under a wedding band?
The plaque is wide, so a straight band sits against its edge. Most people wear this one on its own or with a band on the other hand.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Is the center stone certified?
