The setting

The emerald cut lies east-west in four claws, flanked by tapered baguettes of about 0.15ct each set end to end with it, so the three stones form one continuous bar across the finger. Every stone in the ring is a step cut — no brilliants anywhere — which is unusual and is what gives it the flat, architectural look. Step cuts are all about clarity and proportion rather than fire; a row of them reads as a series of mirrors that catch light in unison as the hand moves.

Common questions

Should I go higher on clarity for this ring?
Yes. All three stones are open step cuts, so inclusions show. VS1 or better on the center stone is the sensible floor.

Does an east-west emerald cut look bigger?
It fills the width of the finger rather than running along it, so it reads wider and more modern. The same stone north-south looks longer and more formal.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.
