This is a plain solitaire built to carry a 3 ct Dutch marquise lab-grown diamond. Nothing else competes with it: no side stones, no engraving, just six claws and a polished band.

The setting

A stone this long needs more than four claws. V-tips cap the faceted ends of the Dutch marquise, and two claws on each side keep it from shifting along its length. The cathedral basket raises it high enough to catch light through the pavilion, and the band narrows slightly toward the head so the stone looks larger than the shank supporting it. The trade-off of a tall head is that it catches more on sweaters and gloves than a low one. Dutch marquise is not offered in the diamond selector; this ring comes with its matched stone.

Common questions

What is the difference between a Dutch marquise and a regular marquise?
A Dutch marquise has faceted, slightly squared ends where a standard marquise tapers to a smooth point. That makes the tips look a little blunter and the outline more angular. The overall long, narrow shape is similar.

Does a tall six-claw head sit well with a wedding band?
A straight band will sit against the shank, with the basket above it. Because the head is tall there is room for a band to slide under the claws slightly, which helps them sit close.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The design, the cut and the carat weight, yes. Individual stones vary slightly, and colored stones in particular read differently under daylight and warm indoor light. We photograph your finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
