A 1.5 ct Dutch marquise lab-grown diamond points to the fingertip and the knuckle, while two sizable pears point away from it to either side. The four tips make a star, and the plain band keeps the outline clean.

The setting

A Dutch marquise has faceted, hexagonal ends instead of the smooth taper of a standard marquise, so its points look slightly squared off and less fragile. V-shaped claws still cover them, because any pointed stone chips first at the tip. The shank splits under each pear, giving the side stones their own seat and letting light in beneath them. The pears are large enough to register as part of the design rather than trim, which is what separates this from a plain marquise three-stone.

Common questions

Why is the Dutch marquise not offered in the diamond selector?
It is an uncommon variation of the marquise, and the pears on this ring are sized to its length. The ring is sold with its 1.5 ct Dutch marquise center already matched, so the cut is not a selector option.

Are the outward pear points exposed?
The pears are held in prongs within the split shank, and their points face away from the center, toward the edge of the finger. That is a more exposed position than an inward point. It is worth taking the ring off for gym work or gardening.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The design, the cut and the carat weight, yes. Individual stones vary slightly, and colored stones in particular read differently under daylight and warm indoor light. We photograph your finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
