Beaded vine scrolls curl out from the shoulders like wrought-iron work, holding small marquise and round diamonds in milgrain-edged bezels. In the middle sits a 1.5 ct Dutch marquise, a marquise with extra facets at the ends that give it a faintly hexagonal outline.

The setting

Six claws hold the center, one on each point and two along each side, in a raised head whose scrolled gallery shows in profile. The shoulder ornament uses the same vocabulary as the gallery: about two bezel-set marquises and two or three rounds per side, each wrapped in a beaded rim, so the side stones read as part of the metalwork rather than sitting on top of it. Below the shoulders the shank opens into an openwork split vine before settling into a band of about 1.8mm. The Dutch marquise is not offered in the diamond selector; it is an unusual cut, and this stone was chosen to fit this head, so the ring is sold with it.

Common questions

How do I clean the milgrain scrolls?
Soak the ring in warm water with a little mild dish soap and brush gently with a soft toothbrush, working into the openwork from the back. Milgrain beads are small and can flatten after years of wear; a jeweler can refresh them during routine maintenance.

How is a Dutch marquise different from a standard marquise?
Its ends carry extra facets that square off the curve slightly, giving a longer, more angular silhouette with a hint of a hexagon. That angular outline contrasts well with the curling metal of a vintage-style setting like this one.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The design, the cut and the carat weight, yes. Individual stones vary slightly, and colored stones in particular read differently under daylight and warm indoor light. We photograph your finished ring and send you those images before it ships.
