The small, everyday version of the rope-twist solitaire: a 0.8 ct round lab-grown cyan blue diamond on a twisted band of about 1.6–1.8 mm. At this size the stone reads as a clear dot of aqua, and the fine twist adds texture without adding width.

The setting

Six claws hold the round, which at under a carat makes the outline look fuller than four would. The cathedral head is tall enough to show the stone from the side, and the open gallery has a culet window, so light passes through the base. The shank is two strands of white metal twisted together. A finer twist is lighter to wear and stacks more easily, but it is more delicate than the heavier bands in the collection, so take it off for the gym and the garden.

Common questions

Why is this stone not in the diamond selector?
It is a colored lab-grown diamond, and the Ring Builder offers white centers. This cyan blue round was sourced for this fine rope-twist head, so the ring is sold with its 0.8 ct stone already set.

Does the fine twist stack with other rings?
Yes. At about 1.6–1.8 mm it sits easily beside a plain or pave band, and the twist gives a stack some texture. Because the head is tall, a straight band slides beneath it.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The design, the cut and the carat weight, yes. Individual stones vary slightly, and colored stones in particular read differently under daylight and warm indoor light. We photograph your finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Where does the color come from?
Lab-grown colored diamonds take their color either from trace elements during growth or from a treatment after growth, and the certificate states which. Either way the color is stable in normal wear and cleaning; avoid holding the ring in a jeweler's torch flame during any repair, which is the one thing that can alter treated color.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
