A round stone inside a six-sided frame: the geometry is the design. The 0.8 ct round lab-grown cyan blue diamond sits low in a hexagon of metal edged with fine milgrain beads, a soft old-fashioned texture on a sharp modern outline.

The setting

Six small claws rise from the corners of the hexagon and hold the stone, so the frame does the decorative work while the claws do the holding. The frame also shields the stone's edge, and the low profile keeps it close to the finger, which suits daily wear. The band is plain and flat, about 1.8–2.0 mm, with nothing on it to compete with the frame. Milgrain softens slightly over years of contact and can be re-beaded by a jeweler when it does.

Common questions

Why is this stone not offered in the diamond selector?
The Ring Builder offers white centers, and this cyan blue lab-grown diamond was sourced to fit the hexagon frame, which is built to the stone's diameter. The ring is sold with its 0.8 ct round already set.

Does the frame make the stone look smaller?
The metal border adds to the overall outline, so the head looks larger than the stone alone, not smaller. What the frame does change is the shape you notice first: from a distance the ring reads as a hexagon with a blue center rather than a plain round.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The design, the cut and the carat weight, yes. Individual stones vary slightly, and colored stones in particular read differently under daylight and warm indoor light. We photograph your finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Where does the color come from?
Lab-grown colored diamonds take their color either from trace elements during growth or from a treatment after growth, and the certificate states which. Either way the color is stable in normal wear and cleaning; avoid holding the ring in a jeweler's torch flame during any repair, which is the one thing that can alter treated color.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
