A 1.5 ct radiant lab-grown cyan blue diamond turned sideways, so its long edge runs across the finger instead of along it. East-west setting makes the ring look wider and lower, and the blue-green gives a plain solitaire an unexpected edge.

The setting

Double claws at each of the four corners, eight tips in all, protect the radiant's clipped corners, which are its most exposed points. The basket is simple and open, with the prong wires crossing underneath, so the stone takes light from every side. The band is slim and slightly knife-edged, about 1.6–1.8 mm. It is photographed two-tone, a white metal head on a warm-colored band; the metal you select applies to the whole ring, and two-tone is available on request.

Common questions

Why is this radiant not in the diamond selector?
It is a colored lab-grown diamond, and the Ring Builder deals in white centers. This cyan blue radiant was sourced to fit the east-west double-claw head, so the ring is listed with its 1.5 ct stone already set.

Does an east-west stone stack well with a wedding band?
Usually better than a north-south one. With the long side running across the finger, the stone takes up less room along the finger, so a straight band can sit close. The corners do extend past the band's edges, so a very wide band may still touch them.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The design, the cut and the carat weight, yes. Individual stones vary slightly, and colored stones in particular read differently under daylight and warm indoor light. We photograph your finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Where does the color come from?
Lab-grown colored diamonds take their color either from trace elements during growth or from a treatment after growth, and the certificate states which. Either way the color is stable in normal wear and cleaning; avoid holding the ring in a jeweler's torch flame during any repair, which is the one thing that can alter treated color.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
