A cushion cut - soft corners, broad facets, an older kind of sparkle - on a band so fine it almost vanishes, with two or three small stones scattered on the approach.

The setting

The cushion sits square in four claws on a narrow band. A small number of round accents, about 0.06ct in total, are bead-set at irregular intervals on each shoulder. A cushion throws larger, slower flashes of light than a round brilliant does; against a plain band with almost no competing sparkle, that difference is visible rather than theoretical. The narrow shank is what makes the stone look bigger than its weight - there is nothing beside it to measure it against.

Common questions

How is a cushion different from a round?
Bigger, softer flashes rather than fine white scintillation - it looks warmer and more antique. It also tends to face up slightly smaller than a round of the same carat, because more weight sits in the depth.

Is a band this fine durable?
It is finer than a standard shank by design. It will take normal daily wear but not knocks against hard surfaces. If you work with your hands, the heavier settings in this collection are the better choice.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The setting, yes — those are photographs of this setting made in our workshop. The diamond in them is one specific stone, so a different center stone will not look identical: a heavier one covers more of the finger and sits slightly higher. We photograph every finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
