A 1.2 carat lab-grown blue diamond, an oval in a medium sky-to-steel blue, framed by a full halo of white diamonds. The band splits into two pave-set strands, so the white frames the blue from every side.

The setting

Four claws hold the oval inside the halo, which makes the center look larger and gives the blue a bright white border that sharpens its color. The split shank carries each strand at about 1.3 millimeters, and pave runs along the upper portion of both. The warm yellow gold, close to rose in the photographs, contrasts with the cool blue. The basket gallery carries both the stone and the halo, and it keeps the halo stones level with the girdle so the frame sits tight around the oval.

Common questions

Can a split shank be resized?
Yes, but the cut is made below the split, where the band is single and plain. Pave on the strands is not disturbed as long as the size change is modest.

Why is this blue oval not in the diamond selector?
Blue lab-grown diamonds are produced in small numbers, so this stone was sourced to sit in this halo rather than listed in the Ring Builder. The ring comes with its 1.2 ct oval.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The design, the cut and the carat weight, yes. Individual stones vary slightly, and colored stones in particular read differently under daylight and warm indoor light. We photograph your finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Where does the color come from?
Lab-grown colored diamonds take their color either from trace elements during growth or from a treatment after growth, and the certificate states which. Either way the color is stable in normal wear and cleaning; avoid holding the ring in a jeweler's torch flame during any repair, which is the one thing that can alter treated color.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
