A 1.5 carat lab-grown blue diamond cut as a marquise, vivid medium blue, sits between two white pears whose points face outward. The three stones form a four-pointed star, with the blue at its center.

The setting

V-tips cap both points of the marquise, the most fragile part of the shape, and four claws hold the sides. The white pears sit on their own prongs, points turned outward, extending the star shape across the finger. Cathedral arches lift the head and carry the load into the shank, which is plain white gold of about 1.8 millimeters, keeping the blue cool and crisp. The blue marquise is not in the diamond selector; it was sourced for this three-stone layout.

Common questions

Do the pears' outward points need protection?
Each pear sits on its own prongs, including one at the point, which covers the tip. They face the neighboring fingers, so check them yearly.

Does the blue look different next to white stones?
The white pears give the eye a neutral comparison, so the blue reads clearer. Warm indoor light can make it look darker than in daylight.

Do the photographs show the exact ring I will receive?
The design, the cut and the carat weight, yes. Individual stones vary slightly, and colored stones in particular read differently under daylight and warm indoor light. We photograph your finished ring and send you those images before it ships.

Where does the color come from?
Lab-grown colored diamonds take their color either from trace elements during growth or from a treatment after growth, and the certificate states which. Either way the color is stable in normal wear and cleaning; avoid holding the ring in a jeweler's torch flame during any repair, which is the one thing that can alter treated color.

Is the center stone certified?
Yes. Every center stone of 1 carat and above ships with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Accent and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.
