Three carats of emerald cut, held at two opposite corners by flat bars of gold and open everywhere else. A step cut this size is mostly long parallel facets and open table — this setting shows you all of it.

The design

The 3ct emerald cut stands lengthwise, roughly 10 x 7mm, with flat polished collars folding over the top-left and bottom-right corners. The shank wraps behind and thickens under each collar to carry the load. Both long sides of the stone are completely exposed. An emerald cut is a hall-of-mirrors rather than a firework — it flashes in long broad planes instead of scattering — and a setting that covers its edges kills exactly the part you paid for.

About our lab-grown diamonds

Every stone we set is a lab-grown diamond — the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and optical behavior as a mined diamond, grown rather than extracted. Center stones of 1 carat and above ship with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Melee and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.

Common questions

Do emerald cuts show inclusions?
More than any other cut. The large open facets have no brilliance to hide behind, so clarity matters here more than on a brilliant cut. Check the certificate, and ask us for video.

Is 3ct too big for daily wear?
It is a lot of ring. The flat collars and low wrap help — there is nothing raised to catch — but this is a statement piece, not a work ring.

Are the corners safe?
Emerald cuts have cut corners by design, which is exactly what makes them suitable for a collar setting. The two held corners are covered; the other two are exposed but blunt.

How does it compare to CDT011?
CDT011 is the same collar language on a 1.5ct Asscher set diagonally. This is double the weight, a rectangular step cut, set upright — much more imposing.

Will a band sit flush?
A straight band sits against the shank. The collars sit proud of it, so there will be a slight step — deliberate, not a fault.
