Two and a half carats of a cut most people cannot name, on a shank with nothing on it. No pave, no halo, no gallery detail — a moval this size does not need help, and this ring is the argument for leaving it alone.

The design

The 2.5ct moval stands lengthwise, roughly 13 x 8mm, in four fine claws. The shank splits at the shoulders, angles into a shallow V and meets under the pavilion, leaving the gallery open. Every surface is polished solid gold. What you notice on the hand is the outline — the gently pointed ends of the moval read as more deliberate than an oval and less severe than a marquise — and nothing on the ring competes with it.

About our lab-grown diamonds

Every stone we set is a lab-grown diamond — the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and optical behavior as a mined diamond, grown rather than extracted. Center stones of 1 carat and above ship with an IGI certificate stating carat, cut, color and clarity. Melee and pave stones are matched to the same color and clarity range but are not individually certified.

Common questions

How is this different from CDT016?
Same 2.5ct moval design; CDT016 carries 0.15ct of pave along the V-shank, this one is completely plain. If you want the diamond to be the only diamond, this is the one.

Is a moval the same as a marquise?
No. A marquise has sharp points and straight-ish sides; a moval has an oval body with softly pointed ends. It is a distinct cut and reads quite differently on the hand.

Does a plain band scratch more visibly?
A little — more uninterrupted surface means more visible fine scratches. It polishes back to new easily; we do it free within the first year.

How big does a 2.5ct moval look?
About 13 x 8mm face-up, which covers most of the width of an average finger and reads larger than a 2.5ct round.

Does the open gallery affect durability?
No. The claws carry the load; the gallery is open for light and weight, not structure.
