This is the quietest ring in the collection. One carat, four small claws, and a slim band that crosses itself behind the stone — nothing else. If you have been looking at solitaires and finding them all a little too upright, this is what the alternative looks like.

The design

A 1ct round brilliant, about 6.4mm, held by four fine round claws at the point where the shank crosses. The band is narrow and tapers toward the back; the crossover is shallow enough that from the front the ring almost reads as a plain solitaire, and only from the side does the S-curve become obvious. Nothing is oversized: the claws are kept small so the stone's outline stays clean, and there is no pave, no gallery detail and no milgrain.

Is 1ct large enough?
It is the most-bought engagement ring weight there is, and on a slim band like this one it reads larger than it would on a wide shank. Whether it is enough is a question about your budget and their hand, not about the stone.

How thin is the band?
Slim — noticeably narrower than the bypass wrap rings in this collection. It suits smaller fingers and stacks well with fine bands.

Does a thin band bend?
Gold is soft, and a fine shank can go slightly out of round over years of wear. It is easily reshaped. If you are rough on rings, the heavier settings in this collection are a better fit.

Does it come with certification?
Yes, the 1ct center is IGI certified.
