The design

The 1ct marquise sits east-west, roughly 10mm across, held in four small round claws. The shank rounds out under the stone, twists as it crosses behind it and tapers back to a slim band. Everything about the piece is softened: the claws are beads rather than collars, the shank has no edges, and the marquise's points sit tucked in rather than reaching out. It is the gentlest interpretation of the east-west idea in this group.

Is a 1ct marquise small?
Face-up it is not — a 1ct marquise runs about 10mm long, considerably wider than a 1ct round at 6.4mm. Marquise is the most size-efficient shape per carat.

Why choose this over the other east-west marquise rings?
Scale and mood. other are fully bezeled and heavy; Some have flat collars and a harder edge. This one is soft, small and rounded — the everyday version.

Are the points protected?
They sit in claws and against the shank. Adequate, but this is the lightest protection in the east-west group; the bezel version is the choice if that worries you.

Does it stack with bands?
Yes. The low profile means a straight band sits against it without a gap on one side.
