The marquise lies flat across the finger; beneath it a crescent of small diamonds curves out and runs along the shoulder. Two flat collars cap the points. It is the most wearable version of the east-west marquise idea in this collection.

The design

A 1ct marquise sits east-west, roughly 10mm across, capped at both points by flat polished collars. The shank crosses beneath and carries 0.20ct of small round lab-grown diamonds bead-set along the crescent under the stone and out onto one shoulder. The long edges of the marquise stay open. Because the collars cover the points, the fragile part of the stone is the part protected — and because the pave sits below rather than beside, the ring keeps a single clean horizontal line across the finger.

Are the marquise points protected?
Yes, by flat collars that fold over each tip. This covers the point from above and in front, which is more protection than a V-claw gives.

How much pave and where?
0.20ct of small round lab-grown diamonds on the crescent beneath the stone, continuing onto one shoulder.

Is a 1ct marquise big enough?
Face-up it runs about 10mm — considerably wider than a 1ct round at 6.4mm. Marquise gives more visible size per carat than any other cut.

Does it sit low?
Yes. Collar settings sit closer to the finger than claw settings, which is a large part of why this piece wears easily.
