The shank does not run under this stone — it splits and angles down into a V, so the marquise sits in an open frame with daylight visible beneath it. From above the ring reads as two thin gold lines converging on a single point of light.

The design

A 1.21 carat marquise stands lengthwise on the finger, roughly 11.5mm point to point. Four claws hold it, with the two at the tips shaped as V-collars — the setting detail that matters most on a marquise, because the points are the thinnest part of the stone and the first thing to chip. The V-shank meets beneath the pavilion rather than passing under it, which keeps the profile low and leaves the pavilion open to light from below. Every surface is high-polish gold; there is no pave anywhere.

Is this ring one of a kind?
Yes. It was made around one specific 1.21ct marquise and is not part of a repeating line. When it sells we do not remake it.

Why 1.21ct and not 1.25 or 1.5?
Because that is the true weight of the stone. Rounded carat figures usually mean a ring built to a spec; an odd weight like 1.21 means the ring was built around a diamond that already existed.

Are marquise points fragile?
They are the thinnest part of the stone and the most chip-prone. Here both tips sit inside V-shaped claws, which grip along two edges instead of pressing from above — the standard protection for this cut.

Does the V-shank make it harder to pair with a wedding band?
A straight band will leave a small gap at the point of the V. A chevron or contoured band nests properly. Tell us at checkout and we will cut one to match.

What is the profile height?
Low for a marquise — the V meets under the stone rather than lifting it on a head, so it sits closer to the finger than a cathedral setting of the same weight.
